The cottage has 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, Muskoka room with full second kitchen, basement rec room with bar, home gym, wine cellar and media room. Other features include a double spiral log stairs, and boulder tub. There is also a 2 car garage and full scribe log 2 slip boathouse.
Having built log homes in BC for years, the Westwood cottage was our first project in Ontario, and was an immediate success. The log house project was designed and built and sold to its current owner during construction. There is also a full scribe log garage and boathouse with 2 bedroom accommodation. The boathouse is accessed by natural stone stairs and a 6 passenger tram car descending 80 feet down to the water. The tower room has 10 mile views down the lake.
This cottage compound is comprised of 5 buildings. The main cottage is a Scandinavian full-scribe Western Red Cedar log building with 4 bdrms, den, Movie Theater and gym comprising 4,000 square feet. The boathouse with 2 bdrm accommodations above and the garage are also full-scribe buildings while the 4 bdrm guest house and gathering house with large dining facilities are a log post and beam style structure. All of the buildings in this unique compound are joined to the main cottage by meandering paths and covered walkways. In total there is 9,000 square feet of living space providing 11 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms.
Painstaking planning and design work was put into this very unique cottage compound which is comprised of 3 buildings. Initially a massive renovation had to be done to the boathouse which resulted in an almost complete rebuild and transformation of the structure into a stunning Scandinavian full scribe Western Red Cedar log shell atop of a conventionally framed lower level. This boathouse features a wood burning fireplace and a TV that automatically rises up out of the floor. Next, the century old log cabin had to be lifted and moved to the back of the property where it has been restored into a charming guest cabin. Finally the stunning 4,300 square foot Full Scribe Cedar main house was designed and built. Sophisticated details and craftsmanship dominate this amazing lodge from its 25 foot tall waterfall that greets you in the entry to its hand carved stone tub that fills from the ceiling to its back lit onyx kitchen island top resting on a massive tree stump.
Designed and Built with family cottaging in mind this 5,500 square foot cottage features 6 bdrms, lower level games room, media room and 2 additional sleeping lofts. Extensive use of rough sawn trims and timbers compliment the Scandinavian Full-scribe Western Red Cedar log home. In addition to the main cottage there is a scribe log garage and boathouse that features a 2 bedroom suite above. The extensive amount of soil that was excavated from the lot was used to transform the 10 acre property into a 3-hole golf course. Sports courts and a volleyball court complete this high energy family’s perfect cottage retreat.
Falcon Crest Lodge is constructed with massive Eastern White Pine logs assembled in the Post and Beam style of construction. This 8,000 square foot cottage features a vast open floor plan surrounding an enormous 4 sided fireplace that opens onto the double staircase entry foyer, the great room, the kitchen and the 20 foot bar that faces a full sound stage for live bands. There is also a dining room with a 22 foot timber dining table and a media room, all on the main level. Upstairs there are 4 bdrms all with ensuits and a laundry room. The upper wings of the house are separated by a unique curved bridge that bends around the fireplace. In the lower level there is a large wine tasting room done in a true medieval style with open flam torches and an 18 foot tasting table.
Elk Run is an expansive and beautifully crafted Scandinavian full-scribe Western Red Cedar log home. Uniquely designed, the building was blasted into solid Muskoka granite and follows the contours of the rock shore. The cottage has over 8,000 square feet of living space with 4 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, 2 offices, multiple sitting rooms, upper level media room and gym. There is also a 2 level, 6 car garage and a log boathouse with a 2 bedroom guest suite. State of the art home automation and geothermal heating and cooling ensure a high level of security and energy efficiency in this truly magnificent log lodge.
Sprawling to almost 185 feet wide this amazing bungalow manages to still have a warm and cozy feel and welcomes elegant cottaging. The 5,300 square foot cottage has 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 dens, and a Muskoka room all on one level. The ceilings and floors are made from reclaimed hemlock timbers that where salvaged from century old barns and buildings in Ontario. This cottage is conventionally framed with the structural addition of Douglas Fir Timberframe for the Muskoka Room, Great Room and many exteriors accents. In this project we were responsible for all of the Timberframe components and their integration into the customers own design. These timbers are massive 16”x16” and 12”x24” radio frequency kiln-dried Douglas Fir. The design showcases a perfect marriage of the traditional mortise and tenon style joinery that uses hardwood pegs, with modern day engineered metal connection systems that use hidden joinery.

This water access lot required all construction products, including the Scandinavian full scribe Western Red Cedar log shell, to be shipped to site on barges and boats. The Bluffs is a beautifully crafted 2,400 sf Scandinavian full-scribe Western Red Cedar log home. It features 4 bdrms and 3 bathrooms with an attached guest garage.
This 100 year old cottage had to be renovated in order to maintain its set back from the lake. The old building was supported while a new foundation was built under it and then slowly reconstructed from the outside in, preserving the interior walls and floors of the main level. This all new structure has such a old comfortable feel that echoes the tradition of Muskoka cottaging from years past.
This ski cabin is designed to accommodate large groups in a small space. The 2,200 SF 3 story home features 6 bdrms and 4 bathrooms, large decks and mountain views. It’s a full-scribe Western Red Cedar log home.

This commercial structure had suffered extensive fire damage. The front facade was rebuilt using natural stone and Cedar log and timbers accents. Used briefly as Hirsh Log Homes offices after the rebuild, the building was then sold and is now an engineer’s office.

The Muskokan resort Club is located on Lake Joseph and is comprised of a number of fractional ownership cottages. The Clubhouse is a common access gathering building that features games rooms, a reading lounge and a movie theater.
